Kyle Cavender, author of Drive the Narrow Road

My Story

Drive the Narrow Road  was shaped by my own spiritual awakening and written to challenge self-proclaimed Christians to examine their lives against Scripture rather than simply assuming they are saved because they go to church or once prayed a prayer.

I grew up in church and was baptized at eight years old. The pastor told me I was saved because I proclaimed belief in Jesus, and I gladly accepted that. But there was a serious problem: I never opened a Bible. Therefore, I lived in ignorance, with no understanding of God’s will or what a real, transformative relationship with Christ looked like.

Over the next twenty years, I grew into a broken, worldly sinner who suffered the consequences of living life my own way instead of fully submitting to God’s ways. I finally woke up when I was humbled enough to begin reading God’s Word for myself instead of just going to church.

After twenty years of proclaiming Christianity and assuming I was saved, the words of Jesus in Scripture confronted me with the truth: I was a lost, worldly fool who was not on the Narrow Road.

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." (Matthew 7:13-14)

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 7:21)

Jesus clearly said that only those who do the will of the Father will enter the kingdom of heaven. When I finally opened my Bible, I learned that there is no way to do the will of God without knowing the Word of God and being transformed by the Spirit. For all those years, I was tossed around by the waves of the secular world, with no real understanding of how I was called to live as a professing Christian (Ephesians 4:14).

The truth was that I had not been born again of the Spirit, as Jesus said is required to enter the kingdom of God.

Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3)

As I began reading and submitting my life to the teachings of God’s Word, everything changed. The Bible has completely transformed my life. Through a surrendered, all-in, repentant faith in Christ, I have been born again of the Spirit and am being shaped into a man of God who desires to walk in obedience and truth. I am a new creation.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.  (2 Corinthians 5:17)

I urge you to examine your life against Scripture like I did. Are you on the Narrow Road or the Wide Path? Have you truly been born again? Are you a new creation? If you are unsure, I encourage you to read Drive the Narrow Road and open the Bible for yourself to seek the truth while there is still time.

About Me

I grew up in the Dallas area and attended Baylor University. I married my wife, Brittany, in 2009, and together we have been blessed with three wonderful children. We currently live in the piney woods of East Texas with our two dogs and four cats (that's too many).

For the past 13 years, Brittany and I have had the privilege of serving and leading in marriage ministry. I also serve in men's ministry, where my passion is helping men grow as disciples of Christ.

If you have ever known me, then you understand how surreal it is that I've written a book and been asked to preach at my church. God is doing something unexpected in my life, and I have come a long way to say the least.

About Narrow Road Life

Narrow Road Life was established for one purpose: to wake people up to the truth of Scripture.

Biblical illiteracy among professing Christians has become far too common, and the consequences are eternal.

The mission of Narrow Road Life is to spread the message of Drive the Narrow Road in every way possible—whether that means giving away books in large quantities, partnering with churches and ministries, or speaking anywhere people are willing to listen.

If you would like to participate in this ministry, there are two primary ways you can help.

First, pray. Please pray that God would open doors for this book to reach far beyond what we could accomplish on our own, expanding its reach in ways only He can.

Second, share it. Give the book to someone. Send them the free eBook. Share the website. Help put this message in front of people who may need to examine what they believe against the truth of Scripture.

Let’s partner to get this message into the hands of those who most need it. If you would like to place a bulk order for your community or congregation, we are happy to provide copies at print cost in hopes that this message will make an impact through your recommendation and influence.

May God bless you as you live out the Narrow Road life.
